3 Good Things (How to Lower Anxiety)

There are many ways we can lower anxiety levels. Anxiety by definition is anticipated dread about the future. Neuroscientific research on mindfulness has suggested that one of the best ways to avoid this worry is by bringing our focus to the present moment (typically through focusing attention on the breath). But being mindful is not simply about breathing, its about focusing our attention. When I am feeling anxious, I lower my anxiety by bringing my mind to focus on three things that I am feeling grateful for at that moment. The mere act of focusing my attention on my gratitudes forces me to use my left brain more (the more logical side of the brain) and use my right brain less (the more emotional side of the brain).
